Most American cities do not recycle polystyrene; then again most of them don’t even recycle paper! Unfortunately this means millions of paper products are making their way to landfills—and once there, not even paper biodegrades. According to the book Rubbish! The Archeology of Garbage, when researchers core into a landfill to study waste they date the depth of their dig by reading the dates on buried newspapers.

In landfills oxygen is in short supply, so often completely biodegradable materials—like paper—simply don’t have the necessary conditions to properly breakdown. With this in mind, EcoSleeve is designed with a proprietary additive that encourages aerobic and anaerobic degradation. By treating our waste as a resource, we’ve gained valuable insight that’s allowed us to improve our product for both you and our planet.
